How to play Tic-Tac-Toe

Choose whether you want to play alone (1 player) or together (2 players). Then select the grid format. There's the traditional 3x3 and also the 5x5 and 7x7 options.

Each player is represented by a symbol: one is the X and the other is the O. Your aim is to line up three of your symbols (or more, depending on the grid you have chosen) horizontally, vertically or diagonally before your opponent.

If all the squares are filled and no one manages to line up the symbols, the game ends in a draw.

Tips for playing Tic-Tac-Toe

• If you’re the first to play, place your symbol (X or O) in the center of the board. This increases your chances of winning, as it gives you more opportunities to form a line.
• If the opponent starts in the center, your best initial move is to play in a corner. This creates more chances to win.
• Try to create a position where you have two ways to win on your next move. This way, your opponent won’t be able to block both.
• Always be on the lookout to stop your opponent from forming a line. If they have two symbols in a row with an empty space next to them, block it immediately.
• If you see there’s no way to win, try to prevent the opponent from winning by forcing a draw.
